Baviaans Adventure Motorcycle Tour
Starting and ending with a scenic Garden Route ride along the coast, the core of this route covers the pristine gravel and 4x4 tracks of the amazing Baviaans and features several river crossings.
Riders should be comfortable with steep inclines and declines over rocky terrain.
The Baviaanskloof (also known as “the Valley of Baboons”) lies approximately 120 km west of Port Elizabeth. Starting in the east at Komdomo, the narrow, steep road leads through the rugged beauty of the Grootrivier gorge on its winding path through a pristine conservancy all the way to Willowmore in the west. Home to the Cape Mountain Zebra, Black Rhinoceros, Red Hartebeest, Buffalo and Eland the Baviaanskloof give visitors the chance to embrace a true wilderness.
Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004, the Kloof offers an exciting riding experience through breathtaking mountainous terrain and river crossings and the entire route is done on the smaller Enduro bikes. The skill level required for this tour: comfortable with steep inclines and declines, as well as rocky terrain and river crossings. A total distance of about 512 km is covered during the tour.
The Baviaanskloof offers spectacular views and rough terrain for exhilarating riding.
Highlights include several technical mountain passes, multiple river crossings, local cuisine and true Karoo hospitality.
